CLAA - History
The County of London Archery Association (CLAA) was founded in 1951 and ran satisfactorily until the millennium when it began to suffer a slow decline in administrative support. The last formal AGM was held on 02.11.2010 after which the CLAA became effectively dormant.
Many of the clubs affiliated to CLAA migrated to other counties, leaving just five clubs within the ‘dormant’ CLAA. Those five clubs strongly believed in keeping a County of London Archery Association and at a meeting on 05.02.2013 voted - with enthusiastic and unanimous agreement - to join forces and formally revive the CLAA.
Discussions with SCAS (Southern County Archery Society) commenced and work on the revival began immediately with the preparation of all the necessary documents required by SCAS. These documents were accepted and the revived CLAA became officially re-affiliated to SCAS, and Archery GB, in August 2013.
The CLAA is now fully back up and running with strong support from a group of enthusiastic officers representing the member clubs. We were delighted to welcome one new club to the CLAA in 2019 and hope that, over time, more clubs will join us.
