Junior Indoor Nationals 2025

The 2025 Junior National Indoor Championships took place on Sunday, 7 December at Stoneleigh Park, bringing together hundreds of junior archers from across the country.

Several London junior archers were in action, winning four gold and three silver medals, and setting a new county record in the Longbow category.
It was an outstanding achievement, and congratulations go to all the archers who competed.

Junior National Indoor Championships 2023

The Archery GB Junior National Indoor Championships took place on Sunday 3rd December at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. County of London was represented by thirteen archers shooting in recurve, barebow and longbow categories. Our archers won four Gold, two Silver and two Bronze medals. Congratulations.

Junior National Outdoor Championships 2023

On 1-2 July, a windy but bright Lilleshall played host to the 2023 Junior Nationals. Over 200 youth archers from across the country came together to compete. The blustery conditions failed to dampen Southfields Archers spirits however, winning a number of medals and Sebastian being crowned the Under 12 Compound National Champion.

Sebastian – Gold and National Champion (Bristol 5 and Metric 5 Men U12 Compound)
Halimah – Silver and Bronze (Bristol 4 and Metric 4 Women U14 Barebow)
Yahia – Bronze (Metric 5 Men U12 Barebow).

A great achievement and congratulations to all our juniors who took part over the weekend.

Junior National Indoor Championship

National Indoor Championship in December 2022 done Well done everyone on Archery Fit team - a few PBs & getting into the head-to-head rounds! Special congratulations to our Samuel (11 y.o. junior athlete) to become the GB gold medallist with longbow (juniors under 12) and come 2nd overall (losing to the 17 y.o. archer), setting a new London record with solid 320 points!

The 2022 International Open Visually Impaired Archery Championships

The 2022 International Open Visually Impaired Archery Championships took place on the 22nd to the 25th September in Andorra, Spain. It was a four day event incorporating the VI Outdoor Championships, the VI Indoor Championships and the VI Team Championships.

London archer, Andrea Thomas represented Great Britain as a member of the visually impaired archery team, winning three medals:
Individual Gold at the Outdoor Championships
Team Silver and Individual Gold at the Indoor Championships.

During the VI Pairs Match, Andrea and her team partner Stuart beat the World VI Champions in the semi-final in order to advance to the Gold medal match, in which they won Silver.

On top of this Andrea managed to set a new County record, scoring 427 points in the VI WA18 round.

The CLAA is hugely proud of Andrea’s achievements and we send our heartfelt congratulations.

Woking Archery Club Open 2022

Woking Archery Club's annual tournament, the WAC Open, saw a weekend of great shooting and a number of medals won by CLAA archers.

William and Slawek won Silver and Bronze in York recurve category,

Sarah won Bronze in Hereford recurve,

Monika Gold in Hereford barebow,

and Sarah Silver in Bristol 3 recurve.

London's New Judge - Erin Barkway

The County of London has a new judge.

Erin Barkway has completed her training becoming the very first archery judge from our County. Erin is an active member of the CLAA board and is a compound bow shooter.

When asked about her hobby, she replied:

"My journey in archery has only just begun. What started off with a 2 hour training session in South Africa, 10 years later has become a passion of mine. Archery is more than just a sport to me, it has become part of my life. Over the years archers could normally find me competing on the shooting line at an array of clubs and tournaments, and now also on the other side of the shooting line as a London Candidate Judge. Archery has been rewarding to me in so many ways and I am happy to be able to give back and grow with the sport. Who knows where my archery adventure will take me. See you on the field".

Junior National Outdoor Championships

Continuing what was a very busy weekend for London juniors, the 2022 Junior National Outdoor Championships were held on 2 and 3 July at the National Sports Centre (Lilleshall). Two hundred archers representing England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland competed in the metric rounds on Saturday and imperial rounds on Sunday.

Our County was represented by eight archers shooting in recurve and barebow categories. After an exciting eight hours of competition, our juniors won six medals in total. Halimah shooting barebow won two golds in the competition (Metric 4 and Bristol 4), Cameron won silver in Bristol 2 recurve, Sarah won bronze in Bristol 4 recurve, Artemi won bronze and Sebastian silver (both in Bristol 4 barebow). This is the most successful Nationals (so far), testament to our developing junior team. A huge congratulations to all who took part.

Well done everyone & special congratulations to Dotty to win the National Champion title after a remarkable one arrow shoot-off in the gold final!

The London Youth Games archery event took place on 4 September 2021. Southfields A.C. juniors represented two London boroughs – Wandsworth and Merton. Wandsworth took gold and Merton finished fourth with our archers taking six individual medals in total, congratulations to all.

The 2021 Southern Counties Archery Society Junior Outdoor Championships were held on 28 August at Rayleigh Town Archery Club. Our archers competed in Bristol rounds and won seven medals: gold (Sarah, Halimah, Fatima and Alina), silver (Hayden and Mikolaj) and bronze (Zakariya). Southfields A.C. were the highest scoring junior club team in SCAS which also placed the County of London in first. Special congratulations goes to Halimah for setting new club and county records in Bristol 5 barebow category.

Woking Archery Club Open 2020 - London archer claims two UK records.

Woking Archery Club's annual tournament, the WAC Open, saw a weekend of great shooting and a number of UK record claims.

Southfields Archery Club archers set 18 new records in total including 2 National*, 2 SCAS*, 7 County and 7 Club:

Monika: WA50 barebow and WA50 double Club/County/SCAS/National records.
Simon: WA50 barebow and WA50 double Club/County record.
Szymon: WA70 recurve and WA70 double Club/County record.
Hayden: WA60 recurve double Club/County record.

World Record

London archer Monika Feterlich has broken an archery World Record! Southfields Archery Club Treasurer Monika now holds the World Record for Individual Indoor Women's Barebow in WA25. She achieved the score of 491/600 back in January at the Guidford Indoor Open. All at the County of London Archery Assocciation are proud of her success. We have few records relating to the CLAA’s successes prior to its revival in 2013 but we feel sure that a World Record is unlikely to have been achieved. Our congratulations to Monika !

Mikolaj set the new Southern Counties Archery Society record. A Double Bristol 4 record of 2194 points was scored during the 2019 SCAS Junior Outdoor Championships. This is the very first ever SCAS record claimed by London archer:) Congratulations !!

The 2019 Southern Counties Archery Society – Junior Outdoor Championships were held on the 31st September at Rayleigh Town Archery Club. SCAS juniors and Senior archers competed in Hereford and Bristol rounds. London was represented by Monika, Mikolaj, Hayden, Henry, Jannah and Sarah who collectively won one gold and five silver medals as well as Best Gold Trophy and SCAS Junior Club Team Champion Trophy.

This excellent result placed London in second place in the SCAS Junior County Team Champion competition. Special congratulations goes to Monika for setting new Club and County records:)

The County of London recurve team fifth in the UK!!

The 2019 Junior National Outdoor were held on the 7th and 8th July at the National Sports Centre (Lilleshall). Over 260 archers representing 15 Counties from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland competed in the Metric rounds on the Saturday and Imperial rounds on the Sunday. The County of London was represented by eight recurve archers from Southfields Archery Club shooting in five categories. After an exciting eight hours of competition, London archers won three medals: Henry won Gold in Bristol 1, Szymon won Bronze in Bristol 1 and Sarah Silver in Bristol 5 category. This phenomenal results placed County of London in the fifth place in the County Recurve Team competition. Congratulations to all our archers!!

London Youth Games 2019

Southfields Archery Club juniors took part in the 2019 London Youth Games on the 6th of July at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. The London Youth Games is an annual multi-sport event held in London, the largest annual youth sports event in Europe and the biggest youth archery event in the Capital. The best young london archers competed shooting Windsor, Short Windsor and Junior Windsor rounds. Southfields juniors represented two London boroughs winning Team Gold for Wandsworth, Team Silver for Merton and scoring 18 medals in total. Havering won Team Bronze. Congratulations to all archers:)

Archery Fit & County of London Joint Championship

Archery Fit & County of London Joint Championship 2019 was held over the weekend of March 30-31. It was the first County of London championship in years, with a great turnout of 82 archers representing 19 nations, and dozens of spectators! WA18 round was shot under the World Record Status and respective rules, and all bow divisions (Recurve, Compound, Longbow, Barebow) were present. 18 sets of medals and 4 champion trophies were at stake!
All clubs affiliated with County of London Archery Association took part, and the most medals were split between Archery Fit and Southfields Archers members with 1 gold going to 2020 Archery club. 6 new county records were set!
Huge congratulations to everyone!

The 2019 Southern Counties Archery Society Indoor Championships

The 2019 Southern Counties Archery Society Indoor Championships were held on the 24th Feb as part of the Battle of Basing shoot in Old Basing in Hampshire. 186 archers from 78 clubs representing 14 Counties competed in the WA25 & WA18 –WRS Combined rounds last Sunday. Shooting took seven hours and 120 arrows to complete.

The County of London was represented by eleven archers shooting in all four categories. London Team won four gold, two silver and one bronze medal. The day belonged to our juniors who, despite competing against senior and more experienced archers, managed to achieve excellent results that enable the County of London to win 5th place in the County Recurve Teams competition. Special congratulations goes to Szymon from Southfields for winning the Junior Champion trophy, with a score of 1076 points - the highest score in the junior recurve division making him the SCAS Champion for 2019!

The 2018 National Indoor Championships

The 2018 National Indoor Championships was held as part of the Combined Indoors weekend on the 2 December 2018 at Stoneleigh Park,

Warwickshire.

This major two-day event saw 700 UK archers competing in Recurve, Compound, Longbow and Barebow categories. Nineteen CLAA juniors took part in Junior National rounds on Saturday, followed by nineteen senior archers who competed on Sunday, taking the total number of CLAA competitors to 38!!

It was really amazing fun and an enjoyable weekend!

The rankings, sponsored by the Longbow Shop, have been calculated from 2,726 results submitted by 571 entrants who, between them, scored more than a million points.

Community Club of the Year Award 2018

Archery GB recently awarded Archery Fit as being the Community Club of the Year 2018! This award was looking for the club who actively seeks new members, whether they’re experienced archers or not, as well as being a club who provides regular training sessions with individually specified training programmes. Their monthly social events are apparently not one’s to miss either.

The 2018 London Youth Games archery competition took place on the 7th of July. The best young london archers competed at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre shooting Windsor, Short Windsor and Junior Windsor rounds. The London Youth Games is Europe's largest youth sports festival. It is now a season of events taking place over 9 months including both School and Community Competitions across 30 different sports. The competitions are part of the national School Games Programme. This year's archery competition was won by Wandsworth with Havering in second and Merton in the third place. Special congratulations to Henry (Merton) for scoring the highest score of the competition and Cameron (Wandsworth) for setting the new all time record in his category. The Fighting Spirit goes to Bromley team that despite founding itself short of a team member on the day of the shoot still tried to battle it out with three of the four members and managed 12th place. Congratulations:)

Junior Masters 2018 - Oxford.
100 of the UK’s top young archers competed at the 2018 Junior Masters in Oxford. All archers who gained Junior Master Bowmen status last year were invited to attend and get a flavour of top-flight competition. They started with a 720 ranking round in sunshine, and then went head-to-head, finishing in the pouring rain! After very long and intense competition County of London archer Mikolaj won Silver in the U12 Barebow category - Congratulations!

Mikolaj Radosz, a member of Southfields Archery Club representing the County of London Archery Association, has achieved first place in the Archery GB Junior National Ranking in 2017. Mikolaj, aged 8, only started shooting archery competitions in April last year. During his first season he managed to win eight competitions including Junior Outdoor and Indoor National Championships beating all archers in the under 12 Barebow category. Congratulations Mikolaj!!

The Archery GB Junior National Indoor Championships 2017 took place on the 2nd of December at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. More than 300 juniors from 123 clubs competed in four categories. The County of London was represented by Zara Ahmad (U16 recurve), Hayden White (U12 recurve), Szymon Mickiewicz (U16 recurve) and Mikolaj Radosz (U12 barebow) from Southfields Archery Club. Our archers won two medals: Mikolaj won Gold in U12 barebow category (with the highest barebow score over all divisions) and Szymon won Bronze in U16 recurve.

Postal League

The County of London Archery Association has introduced a postal archery league for its members! The aim of the League is to encourage archers to shoot a World Archery/Portsmouth round at least once a month, and in doing so have fun, measure progress and help foster some amicable inter-London club relationships.
Any member of the CLAA can shoot and record scores:

- once a month (per each round / bow type), September 2017 to February 2018
- WA18 and/or Portsmouth
- indoor or outdoor
- Olympic recurve and/or compound and/or barebow and/or longbow
- scores will be submitted to the CLAA record officer
- each month your scores will be added to the leader board and the person with the highest overall score in the end takes home the trophy:)

CLAA clubs are strongly encouraged to give it a go - sounds like good fun.

2020 Archery received London Sport Award.

London Bridge based CLAA club 2020 Archery were recently the lucky recipients of a London Sport 'Sportivate' award. These awards are intended to promote sport and increase activity levels for inactive young people in London. There is a particular emphasis on young women and people from under privileged backgrounds. The grant will be used to start a (free!) after school archery club at Harris Academy girls school in Bermondsey.

The London Youth Games 2017 archery competition took place on the 8th of July at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. The archery competition was won (for a third consecutive year) by Team Wandsworth. Congratulations!

The 2017 Junior National Outdoor and Junior World Archery Star Championships were held on the 1st and 2nd July 2017. Three hundred archers from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland competed in the World Archery and Metric rounds on the Saturday and Imperial rounds on the Sunday. County of London was represented by five archers from the Southfields Archery Club: Mikolaj Radosz, Szymon Mickiewicz, Henry Mullock, Victoria Gordon Brown and Oliver Gordon Brown. Oliver represented England in the Home Nations Championships.
Mikolaj Radosz became National Champion in the U12 Barebow category. Mikolaj age 8, scored 1009 points achieving the highest Barebow score of the competition. The Home Nations Championship was won by England. (well done Oliver!) Congratulations to all our archers!!
